Last week I spent a few hours exploring and thought I'd share some of my pictures with you all.
I am so in love with this place already. It is beautiful, fun, vibrant, dynamic and a bunch of other adjectives that are going to seem trite if I list them all. The downtown area is really one of the best I've been in. It is very clean, both local and tourist friendly and idiosyncratic. Last week I spent a few hours exploring and thought I'd share some of my pictures with you all. I'm sure everyone gets sick of seeing pictures of this sign- the market is one of the most recognizable things about downtown- so I doctored it a bit. I just loved the blue sky/white umbrellas combination, so I had to include it. This is Maximus Minimus. He is run by one of the owners of a local cheese shop within the market and serves up amazing pork sandwiches. It was definitely worth the wait. If you happen to stop by Seattle and find yourself at 2nd and Pike, I recommend queuing up for this meal-on-wheels. I just had to share this little guy with you because he is a part of something that it quintessentially Seattle- the gum wall. Located in Post Alley near the Market, there is an expanse of brick wall entirely sheathed in chewing gum. It is gross. You want to stand far away from it and yet, its sheer weirdness draws you closer. And then you find awesome things like the above. People take their art seriously, even if it is a grotesque form of graffiti. Just to give everyone an idea of what I mean. This is maybe one-third of the actual length of the wall.
